Jorge Pontes graduated with a law degree (Juris Doctor) in 1987 from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After working as an attorney in private practice he began to work for the Brazil Federal Police where he held numerous positions during a 25 year government career including Chief of Immigration matters, head of environmental crimes investigations, Director of INTERPOL for all of Brazil and State Superindentant of the Brazil Federal Police. He also worked as a Legal Attache at the Brazilan Embassy in Paris, France and was elected to the Executive Committee of Interpol Representing the Americas.
Mr. Pontes works for our firm on a variety of cases including criminal defense, business law, international divorce and child custody cases, immigration as well as real estate matters. Attorney Pontes has been an important representative of our firm in other areas as well such as company due diligence inquiries for corporate firms from the United States interested in conducting business in the country of Brazil with local Brazilian companies.
