Wilson M. Rood is a practicing attorney in the Dominican Republic.  He holds a degree in Business Administration obtained in 1980 from Apec University, Santo Domingo, D.R.  He also obtained his Law Degree (JD) from UTE in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic as well.

His business experience coupled with his law degree has provided him with a unique insight into local business law.  He is also familiar with tax incentives, international treaties, import and export regulations, etc. and application of such pertinent laws in the Dominican Republic. 

Wilson Rood has been involved in several business ventures in the Dominican Republic including the founding of a produce export company in country. This company, Plantaciones Tropicales, exported tropical produce to other Caribbean Islands, including the USVI's, BVI's, St. Maarten, Anguilla, St. Barths, Antigua, Nevis, St. Kitts and others. He was also a pioneer in exporting the first organic produce from the Dominican Republic to Europe, which has since catapulted into a major export sector of the country.

He is on the board of directors of IDDI- a local NGO- Instituto Dominicano para el Desarrollo Integral, which has been in operation for over 25 years. IDDI runs the Cigar Family School in Caribe, Bonao for Arturo Fuentes and the Newman Bros., one of the finest schools in the entire country. IDDI also provides micro-lending throughout the country in an effort to develop small and medium size enterprises.

Our associate has also worked as a subcontractor to major investigative companies throughout the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia, providing litigation support, due diligence reports and business intelligence.  This company was founded by his father, Wilson A. Rood, a former FBI Special Agent, who resided in Santo Domingo from 1963- 2009. He took over the main responsibilities of the company in 1990 and expanded operations to include clients from all continents except Africa.

Mr. Rood provides assistance to our firm primarily in the areas of business law, criminal defense, immigration issues, intellectual property and real estate law in the Dominican Republic.
